National ice cream month is celebrated each year in july and national ice cream day is celebrated on the third sunday in july, in the united states.The holiday was created by an official proclamation by president ronald reagan in 1984. At the time, the holiday was supposed to be only celebrated once - on july 15, 1984. The ice cream industry, however, decided to continue the tradition every year since. In addition to observing a national ice cream day, the proclamation also designated july as national ice cream month.This too has now become a tradition.
National ice cream day is sunday and the country’s best ice cream joints are celebrating by doling out free or discounted scoops of icy desserts.Most ice cream companies are family owned and have been in operation for more than 50 years! Here’s more sweet news: ice cream companies help support the U.S. Economy, contributing more than $39.0 billion to the national economy and creating more than 188,000 jobs in communities across the country.
